Exploring how the system starts and reaches its own operating environment.
WISE STUDIOSYSTEM.ONLINECuriosity, all the way down.
A Wise Labs experiment in systems software. An operating system built from the ground up.
WiseOS is a long-term engineering experiment in building an operating system from the ground up. It is its own operating-system project, rather than a Linux distribution or a skin. The goal is to understand and build the foundations directly.
Areas of ongoing exploration, rather than a list of completed capabilities.
Exploring how the system starts and reaches its own operating environment.
Working with how memory is tracked, allocated, and used.
Exploring address spaces and how virtual memory maps to physical memory.
Understanding processor state and responding to exceptions.
Building the foundations that connect the system’s parts.
Exploring how the system detects problems and recovers from failures.
LONG-TERM EXPLORATION / NO RELEASE TIMELINE ANNOUNCED
Conceptual areas of study. This diagram does not represent a finished architecture.
Real serial and test-log excerpts from the current Rust/x86-64 build, captured in a read-only log viewer. The QEMU workflow is headless; fault probes are intentional tests, and host-only models are not live guest capabilities. Open any capture at full resolution.
